Head to Clongorey for a historical walk and talk that uncovers an important moment in Irish history. 

Learn about the  Clongorey evictions,  a series of brutal land clearances on the O’Kelly estate in County Kildare, Ireland.

Between 1883 and 1892, stemming from disputes over rent reductions after flooding and participation in the Land League’s Plan of Campaign, over 50 families were displaced, with homes burned or demolished by the Property Defence Association. 

Listen to the story of the Clongorey Evictions, the causes and the lasting effects, as you visit the locations where thatched roofs burned as families were evicted.
