Walk & Talk with local historian Frankie Boland - ‘From the Barrack Gate to the Watering Gates’

  • Riverbank Arts Centre Main Street Newbridge, County Kildare, W12 D962 Ireland (map)

Join Frankie Boland and the Newbridge Local History Group on a historical walk through the old British Cavalry married quarters area, ‘The Barracks’, in Newbridge town centre. Spanning 200 years of facts and stories up to the present day.

Frankie will reminisce and tell some of the stories gathered and retold in his book (shown below) on one of the oldest residential areas in the town - 'From the Barrack Gate to The Watering Gates'.

The housing estate known as The Barracks is situated on Newbridge Main Street, behind the Garda Station and adjacent to St. Conleth’s GAA Park. The area was originally part of the British Garrison’s Married Quarters, hence the popular title.

Meet outside the Riverbank at 7.00pm for this Free Event.
