Join Frankie Boland of Newbridge Local History Group for an hour long history walk, covering the 1820’s to the present, through the married quarters of the The Cavalry Barracks housing in Newbridge town centre. Frankie will reminisce and tell some of the stories gathered and retold in his book on one of the oldest residential areas in the town - 'From the Barrack Gate to The Watering Gates'.
The housing estate known as The Barracks is situated on Newbridge Main Street, behind the Garda Station and adjacent to St. Conleth’s GAA Park. The area was originally part of the British Garrison’s Married Quarters, hence the popular title.
Meet outside the Riverbank at 7.00pm for this Free Event.
