The Barracks – Audio Tour with Frank Boland
Local historian, Frank Boland, takes us on an audio tour of the housing estate known as the Barracks. It is loosely based on Frank’s book – ‘From the Barrack Gate to the Watering Gates’, about the history of the houses in the estate and its residents.
The ‘tour’ begins on the Main St., at the Barrack Gate, between the Town Hall and the Garda Station, and then goes through the estate, down to the watering gates, finishing on the Main St. beside the Riverbank Arts Centre.
This recording is designed to be listened to in the comfort and safety of your own home or perhaps you may want to take the same journey and follow in Frank’s footsteps, as he guides you through the history of the Barracks housing estate.
